Fourth Indian Provincial Chapter - 2026
Day-5
Indian Provincial Chapter 2026

January 27, 2026

Dear Sisters,

In today’s Eucharistic celebration, Fr. Michael offered us a profound point for reflection. Jesus sent out His disciples to proclaim that the Kingdom of God is near, sending them into the midst of wolves. Sending them two by two, or as pairs, signifies the need to support one another, to ensure the credibility of their witness, and to correct and encourage each other along the way. St. Francis instructed his followers, “Preach the Gospel; if necessary, use words,” meaning that the Word is to be preached through our very lives—our behavior, attitudes, and relationships.

The first morning session was led by Bro. Philip, who gave us a handout titled “In the Setting of the Desert”. There is no better place to hear God’s call to change the world than the desert, for the desert is the territory of truth. How are we to respond to this call today? John the Baptist heard the voice crying out, “Prepare the way of the Lord”. Our lives are often strewn with obstacles and resistance that hinder God’s coming into our hearts and communities, Church and our world.

A few points were offered for reflection:

  • Where you stand will determine what you see.
  • Whom you stand with will determine what you hear.
  • What you see and hear will determine what you say and how you act.

If I am in a place of sufficiency, what I see will be very different from what I would see if I were in the wilderness. If I am standing with those who wield power, what I hear will be very different from what I would hear if I were standing with the cries of the people and the earth made voiceless. So, where am I standing?

We continued our discussions on the collated issues during the morning hours. In the afternoon, we worked with some of the proposals in the plenary session as well as in small groups.

Fr. Michael concluded the session with remarks on synodality and encouraged us to read the various documents of the congregation—both legal and spiritual texts—as these will help enrich and improve our personal and communal life.

With best regards,
